Rockland isn't a huge metropolis by any measure
but it does have its idiosyncrasies when it comes
to navigating within the city limits. Hopefully these
tips will help you find us from the three most common
directions (south on Route 1, north on Route 1, and
east on Route 17) but if further explanation is needed,
feel free to call or email us using the information
above.
Coming south
on Rt. 1 (from Camden, Belfast)
Upon entering Rockland (you'll see Wal Mart on your
left, and Home Depot on your right) follow Route
1 (Camden Street) for about a mile to the light next
to the MacDonald's (so far, we must look like any
other town in America). Turn right onto Maverick
Street, go through the traffic light and turn left
at the flashing yellow light onto Broadway/Rte 1A.
At the light, go straight for about 100 yards; there
will be a small green on your right and a white house
with a large greenhouse attached (that's us). Turn
right just after the green and our Youthlinks' sign
should leap out at you.
Coming north
on Rt. 1 (from Damariscotta, Portland)
Entering the city limits from Thomaston
(you should start paying attention once you see Matthews
Brothers store on your left) follow Route 1 to the
first traffic light and get into the left turn lane
(the Stella Maris House will be on your left and
the Coastal Fuel gas station will be on your right.)
Turn left onto Broadway/Rte 1 and go straight. Go
through two sets of lights; after the second set
Rockland District High School will appear on you
left. Just beyond the high school is the left turn
for our offices: we are the white house with the
greenhouse attached.
Coming east
on Rt. 17 (from Augusta)
Follow Route
17 east from Rockport to the traffic light at the
intersection of Route 17 and Old County Road (about
4 miles). Go straight through the light and at the
yellow flashing light about 1/4 mile on turn right
onto North Main Street. Approximately 500 yards on
your right (before the light and opposite the Mobil/Puffin
Stop gas station) is our turn: we are the third house
along, the white one with the greenhouse attached.
Our sign should be visible in front of you, if confirmation
be needed that you did indeed make it.
